Guided tours

Guided hikes, mountain tours and snowshoe tours - tailor-made for you.

I accompany people into nature in a mindful, competent and personal way. My guided hikes, alpine hikes (T4), treks and snowshoe hikes are not created from a catalog, but from a dialogue with you. Whether you are looking to get back into snow sports, plan a multi-day trekking tour or want to experience a retreat in nature: I listen to you and design the right experience for you or your group.

  • «I had the pleasure of taking part in several hikes with Lara Mandioni, as well as completing an individual course "Mountain Hiking and Introduction T4" with her. Each experience was extremely enriching. What makes her tours special is the added value she provides, with exciting explanations about the type of rock, fauna and historical background. A hiking guide who makes a difference - and a wonderful person to boot. Two more trekking tours with her are already planned and I'm really looking forward to them!»

    Catherine

Nature experiences all year round - individually planned

I'm out and about with you all year round - with well thought-out, personalized offers based on the season, your ability and your goals. Whether it's a gentle snowshoe hike, a challenging alpine hike or a culinary-cultural themed hike: every season has its own magic - and I make it come alive for you.

  • Guided tours in winter

When winter arrives, things become calmer, clearer and more focused. I accompany you on:

    • Guided snowshoe hikes - as a half-day, day tour or multi-day tour
    • Easy ski tours - ideal for beginners
    • Individually planned snow days with nature experience and mindfulness
    • Getting back into snow sports: for people who want to rebuild their confidence after an accident, a long break or an unpleasant experience - whether on skis, telemark, cross-country or touring skis

I pay particular attention to safety, an appropriate pace and the right balance - so that you feel comfortable and can get back on track.

  • Guided tours in spring

When nature awakens, it's time to go outside. This time of year is particularly suitable for connecting with nature, gentle movement and fresh impulses.
    I offer you:

    • Enjoyable hikes through blossoming landscapes
    • First trekking tours of the season, adapted to snow and trail conditions
    • Themed hikes with a focus on flora - e.g. herbs, flowers, trees, buds

Spring brings movement, but also inspiration - many of my guests also feel something reawakening inside.

  • Guided tours in summer

Everything is possible in summer - from leisurely to sporty and challenging:

    • Guided day hikes and multi-day tours
    • Alpine hikes T4, also with introduction on request
    • 3-5-day trekking tours with overnight stays in huts or hotels
    • Cultural and themed hikes - with a focus on geology, legends, cuisine, customs or history

I plan individual tours for you or your group - also with variations for different fitness levels.

  • Guided tours in the fall

Autumn is a powerful, clear season - ideal for conscious time-outs, intensive nature experiences or last big tours before winter.
    My offer in fall:

    • Hikes through colorful forests and quiet valleys
    • Reflection hikes or retreats - ideal for pausing and letting go
    • Cultural hikes with a focus on harvest traditions, myths and natural cycles
    • End-of-season treks - powerful and relaxing at the same time

If you would like to start the next season with a clear view, autumn is the perfect time for a guided tour with depth.

This is how a booking works for me

  • Contact us

Get in touch with me - preferably by email or phone - and tell me briefly what you would like. You don't have to have an exact idea yet. Just a rough idea is enough to start the process.

  • Clarify wishes & needs

We will clarify your ideas together in a personal meeting (by phone or online):

    • What kind of tour do you want?
    • How sporty can it be?
    • Where would you like to go?
    • How many people are there?
    • Are there any special topics, interests or restrictions?

I take time for you - so that you get a coherent offer that really suits you.

  • Receive tour suggestions

Based on our conversation, I will put together 1-2 suitable tour suggestions for you.
I will take into account your goals, the size of the group, the desired level of difficulty, accommodation requirements, stage length and much more.
You can then tell me what is right for you - or we can adapt it together.

  • Down payment

Before I start with the detailed planning, I ask for a deposit of 50% of the total amount.
This is to cover the costs associated with route selection, reservations, variant planning and safety concept. Your date is only bindingly reserved with this deposit.

  • Detailed planning & implementation

I plan all the details of the tour carefully:

    • Route
    • Accommodation (hut, hotel, inn)
    • Safety aspects & variants
    • Advice on what you need to take with you
    • Special regional features

On the day of the tour, I will accompany you personally - with experience, attentiveness and everything that goes with it.

  • Final payment

The balance is paid by arrangement, usually shortly before or after the course. Everything is transparent - you always know what you are paying for.

I work without hidden costs and with clear communication.

  • «I love to design tours that are both challenging and nourishing - physically, emotionally, spiritually.»

    Lara Mandioni

Group size & safety

The maximum group size depends on the level of difficulty and your experience - safety is my top priority.

  • For T4 alpine hikes, I accompany 3 to 5 people

  • For easier day hikes, it can be up to 8 people - depending on the composition, terrain and destination of the tour

I adhere to the professional standards of hiking guides - not to group sizes that are the most economically viable. What counts for me is quality, not quantity.

Why you are right with me

  • I work on request and to measure

  • I take your physical and technical abilities into account.

  • I plan according to your order and accompany you from initial contact to implementation.

  • I bring experience, heart and know-how - as a federally certified hiking guide with international recognition and an in-depth coaching background.

FAQ's about guided tours

  • Can I also find a suitable tour with you as a beginner?

Yes, many people who travel with me don't have much mountain experience and that's exactly what I'm here for. Before we plan a tour, we clarify your requirements together:

    • What have you hiked so far?
    • How many hours of exercise per day are comfortable for you?
    • How many meters of altitude have you already covered?
    • What about your surefootedness and stamina?

If you are unsure, I will offer you a reference hike so that I can better assess your capabilities. My aim is for you to feel neither overchallenged nor underchallenged - and to leave with a good feeling.

I design every tour so that it is realistic, sensible and safe for you, whether it's a simple walk, a trekking tour or a T4 alpine hike.

  • How much does an individually guided tour cost?

The price depends on several factors:

    • Duration (half-day, day or multi-day tour)
    • Region and journey
    • Group size
    • Level of difficulty
    • Effort for planning and organization

I do not work with fixed flat rates, but fairly and transparently on a time and material basis. After an initial meeting, I will send you a written offer.

A deposit of 50% is due before detailed planning begins. This covers my workload - especially for tours lasting several days with overnight stays and reservations.

  • Are you also planning trekking tours lasting several days?

Yes - 2 to 10-day trekking tours are my specialty. I plan these tours on request, tailored to:

    • Region and landscape
    • altitude, daily stages, difficulty
    • Accommodation (SAC hut, hotel, mountain lodge)
    • Desired topics (e.g. culture, geology, cuisine)
    • Group size and pace

You will receive an individually planned trekking tour with a well thought-out route, reservations and variations - accompanied by me personally.

  • What if the weather is bad?

A few clouds or rain are no reason to cancel. I plan every tour carefully and always have a plan B.
Only in the event of real danger (e.g. storm, thunderstorm, avalanche warning) do I cancel or suggest an alternative. I am familiar with the official weather services (MeteoSchweiz, SLF) and check the situation carefully.

If continuous rain is forecast in the north, I often move tours to another region - to Ticino, for example. I make sure that you are safe, flexible and well-informed when out and about.

  • Can I take my dog with me?

On individually booked tours yes, in groups no.
If you are traveling privately with me, I will plan a suitable route for you and your dog - including dog-friendly accommodation and trails. Dogs are not allowed in SAC huts - neither in the living room nor in the dormitory. External locked rooms are available for dogs. I then look for alternatives, e.g. at pet-friendly hotels.

Dogs are not allowed on open group hikes. I want to enable all participants to experience nature undisturbed - without having to take fears, allergies or behavioral conflicts into consideration.

  • Do you also offer tours abroad?

Yes, but only selectively and on request. I plan guided hikes and retreats in regions that I know personally, for example in Madeira or Sardinia.
However, my focus is clearly on Switzerland. Here I know the conditions, the weather, paths and huts and can accompany tours reliably and safely.

  • What should I bear in mind for snowshoe hikes, ski tours or snow days?

The right equipment is crucial - and it differs depending on the activity:

    For snowshoe hikes:

    • High, sturdy hiking boots with a good profile (no winter boots!)
    • Weatherproof clothing according to the onion principle
    • Gaiters against snow in your boots
    • Hat, gloves, sunglasses
    • Rucksack with drink, snacks and a change of clothes if necessary

    For ski tours:

    • Touring skis or splitboard with skins and crampons
    • Ski touring boots (not alpine skis!)
    • Functional underwear, breathable touring clothing
    • Wind and weather protection (light hard shell instead of down)
    • Helmet, gloves (possibly a spare pair), ski goggles
    • Avalanche equipment (avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel)

For snow days without a tour (e.g. for orientation or as a way back in):

    • Movement-friendly, warm clothing
    • Weatherproof shoes or snowshoes depending on the activity
    • Optional: thermos flask, seat pad, small snacks

I will advise you individually in advance so that you are optimally prepared. You can hire snowshoes, poles or avalanche transceiver equipment from me or I can arrange suitable rental stations for you. Safety and comfort come first.

  • Do you also offer tours for those with sporting ambitions?

Yes, I also accompany people with experience in mountain sports, for example on T4 alpine hikes, more technical routes or longer stages with a high altitude profile. If you want to challenge yourself physically, technically or mentally, I will plan a suitable tour for you - individually, carefully and tailored to your goals.

Theonly important thing is that the tour must be within my capabilities. We will be happy to discuss what is realistic and feasible during the initial consultation. This way, we can ensure that you are well accompanied and responsible on the road.

  • What is the difference between a guided tour and a self-planned tour?

You get more than just guidance. A guided tour with me means

    • Individual planning and guidance
    • Safety-conscious route selection and navigation
    • Expert knowledge of nature, weather, flora, geology and culture
    • Relief with bookings, organization and daily schedule
    • On request: mindfulness, coaching, themed hikes
    • Flexibility in terms of weather and group dynamics

I accompany you with experience, attentiveness and an open ear - and create tours that will be remembered.

  • What happens if I have to cancel at short notice?

I understand that plans can change. Nevertheless:

    • I start planning early, reserve accommodation and invest a lot of time
    • That's why a cancellation fee is due in the event of withdrawal in accordance with the GTC
    • SAC huts can usually be canceled free of charge up to 48 hours in advance
    • Different conditions apply to hotels
    • The shorter the notice of cancellation, the more difficult it is to avoid expenses

If you let us know in good time, we can usually find a fair solution. I recommend that you consider taking out cancellation insurance for longer tours.
