Feng Shui Consultation for Your Environment

Spaces can be more than just a beautiful backdrop

Do you truly feel at home in your living spaces? Do you find peace, a sense of direction, and renewed energy there? Or are there areas that, despite beautiful decor, feel unsettling, cramped, or out of balance?

A Feng Shui consultation can help you view your apartment, house, office, or garden with greater awareness. The focus is on the orientation, use, and design of each space. Feng Shui considers the interplay between people, space, buildings, gardens, and the surrounding environment. Objects, colors, materials, light, plants, stones, and water can be arranged in such a way that life energy—Qi—can flow more harmoniously through the space.

Even small changes can influence the atmosphere of a space. My goal is to help you view your spaces in a way that supports you in your daily life and feels right for you.

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is a traditional Chinese philosophy for the conscious design of living and working spaces and their surroundings. A Feng Shui consultation examines the interplay between people, space, orientation, use, and the environment.

Qi and Life Energy

In Feng Shui, Qi is understood as life energy. The term is part of the traditional interpretive framework. The consultation focuses on how spaces, pathways, and areas interact with one another and how their use can be shaped more consciously.

Orientation and Surroundings

Cardinal directions, buildings, the property, and the immediate surroundings serve as important reference points. Depending on the specific concerns, terrain features, streets, neighboring buildings, and transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces may also be taken into account.

Space and Use

A space should be suited to the people who use it and their daily activities. Furniture, materials, lighting, colors, lines of sight, pathways, and areas for retreat are considered in relation to the specific use of the space.

Indoors and Outdoors

Living spaces, buildings, gardens, and the surrounding area are all interconnected. Garden paths, seating areas, entrances, and transitions can therefore also be part of the consultation.

Feng Shui is not a specific interior design style. It is not about Asian decor, but rather a traditional approach to space and the environment. Your existing furniture and personal style remain important throughout the process.

Who can benefit from a Feng Shui consultation?

A Feng Shui consultation can support you in various life situations:

  • More peace and quiet in your daily life:
You want to design your home so that you can relax and find your bearings more easily.

  • A change is on the horizon:
You’re moving, redecorating, or planning a renovation.

  • A new space is taking shape:
You want to address important questions about your future home or workplace early on.

  • Your work environment is changing:
You want to repurpose your office, practice, or business.

  • You’re looking for a personal perspective:
You’d like to view your space and your current situation from a complementary perspective.

You don’t have to wait for a major change. Even a single room, a workspace, or a specific transition can serve as the starting point for my Feng Shui consultation.

My Feng Shui Services

Feng Shui can guide you through various projects and locations. I offer consulting services for residential and commercial spaces, gardens, properties, and new construction. Depending on your specific needs, I consider orientation, surroundings, usage, floor plans, and the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

  • Feng Shui for Apartments and Houses

Your home is a place to live, to retreat, and to relax. I consider how the rooms interact with one another and what kind of atmosphere they create.

Depending on your needs, the following areas can be included:

    • Entrance area and transition between indoors and outdoors
    • Room layout and use of individual rooms
    • Placement of furniture and key items
    • Sleeping, living, and work areas
    • Lighting, colors, materials, and lines of sight
    • Traffic flow and open spaces
    • Spaces for retreat, socializing, and concentration

Existing furniture does not necessarily need to be replaced. Often, individual areas can be specifically adapted and used more thoughtfully.

  • Feng Shui for Offices and Business Premises

Office spaces serve as a workplace, reception area, and a company’s calling card. Sometimes, a business can feel as if the parking brake is on. Workstations aren’t suited to their intended use, employees struggle to focus, conversations drag on, or customers don’t enjoy spending time there.

Such spatial friction can cost time, energy, and concentration in everyday work life. A Feng Shui consultation helps bring these issues to light and develop practical design solutions.

    Possible topics include:

    • Floor plan and layout of the business space
    • Entrance area and reception
    • Sales and consultation rooms
    • Positioning of workstations and cash registers
    • Lighting, colors, materials, and wayfinding
    • Areas for concentration, interaction, and privacy
    • Spatial psychology and ergonomic considerations

The focus is on recommendations tailored to your company and its processes. We do not promise increased sales, success, or specific business results.

  • Feng Shui in the Garden

The garden connects your home to the natural surroundings. I see it as a place for tranquility, socializing, physical activity, and relaxation. In the traditional view, the garden doesn’t begin at the front door. The roadside, garden paths, the entrance, and the transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces can also be included.

    Possible themes include:

    • Orientation and Character of the Garden
    • Connection between the house, garden, and surroundings
    • Pathways, plantings, and sightlines
    • Water and stone features
    • Natural pond or swimming pool
    • Seating areas and spaces for relaxation
    • Open and sheltered garden areas

A Feng Shui garden does not have to be an Asian garden. It’s not about stone lanterns, bamboo, or a specific decorative style. What matters most is the layout, the use of the space, and the balance between open, sheltered, dynamic, and tranquil areas.

  • Feng Shui for New Construction and Properties

With a new construction project, it’s possible to consider the location early on. We can provide consultation as early as the property search or during the initial planning phase.

The sooner you involve me, the more questions can be incorporated into the planning process. Depending on your needs, the following can be considered:

    • Orientation, location, and topography of the lot
    • The building and its immediate surroundings
    • Entrance, floor plan, and intended use
    • Connection between indoor and outdoor spaces
    • Integration of the Five Elements within the framework of traditional principles

I can offer you a complementary perspective on the property, its orientation, and the floor plan. Feng Shui does not replace architecture, construction planning, structural engineering, legal review, or technical planning. The respective specialists remain responsible for their respective fields.

  • Chinese Astrology and Feng Shui

Feng Shui focuses primarily on the environment. Chinese astrology focuses on a person’s energetic constitution. Both approaches are based on shared philosophical principles such as yin and yang, the five elements, and qi. In Chinese astrology, I work with Ba Zi. This method is also known as “the Four Pillars of Destiny.” The analysis incorporates your year, month, day, and time of birth.

For an astrological consultation, I’ll need your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. Based on this information, I’ll prepare a written summary. Depending on your specific question, the analysis may provide insights into:

    • personal traits, talents, and strengths
    • personal challenges and behavioral patterns
    • vocation, life direction, and professional environment
    • relationships and personal planning
    • A planned move to another region or country
    • Planning for events such as a wedding, opening a business, or a housewarming

The energy of the current year can also be taken into account. It is part of the traditional interpretive framework and can place greater emphasis on certain themes in the analysis. Chinese astrology does not predict an unchangeable future or provide ready-made decisions. It offers an additional perspective for reflection and personal planning. As I like to say: “I don’t have a crystal ball.”

  • Electrosmog and Radiesthesia

In our daily lives, we are surrounded by artificially generated electromagnetic fields. These include, for example, fields associated with cell phone networks, Wi-Fi, and power lines. The health assessment of such fields is not the focus of a Feng Shui consultation.

Dowsing refers to an approach in which energy fields and zones are examined using specific techniques or instruments. In my work, I use measuring devices for this purpose.

As part of a Feng Shui consultation, rooms, properties, and their surroundings can be examined from a complementary perspective. The goal is to become more aware of spatial and technical conditions and to clarify questions regarding their use or design.

Dowsing is not a method with conclusive scientific validation. No medical diagnoses or promises of healing are derived from a dowsing assessment. If you have health concerns, please consult a qualified medical professional.

How a Feng Shui Consultation Works

A Feng Shui consultation takes place on-site. Depending on your specific needs, I’ll assess your home or business premises, your garden, a plot of land, or the surroundings of a building. The focus is on your wishes, how the space is used, and what you’d like to change. After the consultation, you’ll receive a written report and specific recommendations.

I do not offer remote Feng Shui consultations. The exact duration and cost depend on the scope of the consultation. You can find information on the current terms and conditions here.

  • «Try to use your time to bring your space to its full potential.»

    Florian Truffer

Why choose me for a Feng Shui consultation?

I combine my many years of experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine with Feng Shui and Chinese astrology. This allows me to consider not only the space itself, but also the people who live or work there and their specific circumstances.

My approach is practical: Often, a complete redesign isn’t necessary. Small changes to the layout, colors, or individual elements can transform a space in specific ways. You’ll receive a personalized on-site assessment, concrete recommendations, and a written report. You can find out more about my background and training here.

An example from my work

An elderly woman originally came to my TCM practice because of her sleep problems. Upon examining her living situation and her personal astrological data, the orientation of her bed appeared unfavorable within the traditional framework of interpretation. We moved the bed as an experiment.
She reported afterward that she was sleeping much better and left the bed in its new position.

A Holistic Approach: Space & Soul

Sometimes blockages aren’t just found in the furnishings, but also in a place’s history or in personal issues. In collaboration with Lara Mandioni, we combine Feng Shui—upon request—with energetic space cleansing (e.g., smudging) and systemic soul work. In this way, we create a clear foundation so that energy can flow on all levels.

FAQs About Feng Shui

  • How much time should I set aside for a Feng Shui consultation, and how much does it cost?

The time and cost of a Feng Shui consultation depend heavily on the scope of your project—for example, whether it involves a single room, an entire apartment, a commercial building, or a plot of land. After our initial, no-obligation consultation, I’ll assess the scope of the work and provide you with a clear quote. That way, you’ll know exactly what to expect right from the start.

  • Do I need to rearrange my apartment for a Feng Shui consultation?

No. A Feng Shui consultation does not require that an entire apartment be redecorated or that all the furniture be replaced.

Often, existing furniture and objects can be positioned more thoughtfully, or specific areas can be adjusted in a targeted manner. Possible areas to focus on include:

    • the placement of individual pieces of furniture
    • unobstructed pathways
    • the use of a room
    • lighting and color schemes
    • the effect of materials
    • Organization and clarity
    • The connection between different living areas

You don’t have to change everything at once. In my Feng Shui consultation, I focus on which steps make sense and are realistic to implement in your daily life.

  • What factors are considered in Feng Shui for an office or business?

When applying Feng Shui to an office or business, the layout of the space, workstations, reception area, customer areas, lighting, and traffic flow are taken into account. The goal is to create a clear, inviting, and functional atmosphere that suits the company’s operations.

Depending on the business, the following areas may be included:

    • Entrance and Reception Area
    • Sales and consultation rooms
    • Workstation placement
    • Cash registers and central work areas
    • Meeting and Conference Areas
    • Pathways for employees and customers
    • Lighting, Colors, and Materials
    • Areas for concentration, interaction, and privacy

The way a space is experienced in everyday work can also play a role. A workspace has different requirements than a reception area, a treatment room, or a sales floor. I can’t promise you specific business results. However, I can help you become more aware of spatial considerations and develop concrete options for designing your business premises.

  • When is it a good idea to apply Feng Shui to a new construction?

It makes sense to seek a Feng Shui consultation for a new construction as early as possible—ideally while searching for a lot or before the building’s shape and floor plan are finalized. There are more options available during this phase than with a completed building. For a lot, factors such as location, orientation, topography, and surroundings can be considered.

During the construction planning phase, the following questions may also arise:

    • Where is the entrance located?
    • How are the living, sleeping, and work areas arranged?
    • Which rooms should be connected to one another?
    • How do the garden, patio, and interior spaces relate to one another?
    • What is the intended use for each area?

My initial consultation is not a substitute for architectural or technical planning. However, I can help you clearly articulate spatial considerations and incorporate your wishes into the planning process early on.

  • What is analyzed during a Feng Shui garden consultation?

A Feng Shui garden consultation examines the connection between the house, the garden, and the surrounding area, as well as the planned use of the outdoor space. Elements that can be incorporated include paths, plantings, seating areas, water and stone features, and both open and sheltered areas. A garden can provide space for relaxation, socializing, exercise, or retreat. That’s why the question of how the outdoor space will actually be used is also an important part of the process.

In Feng Shui garden design, the following questions may take center stage:

    • How does the path lead from the property to the house?
    • Where is a pleasant entrance located?
    • Which areas feel open or sheltered?
    • Where should space be created for sitting, eating, reading, or retreating?
    • How can plants, water, and stones be arranged harmoniously?
    • How can the garden be connected to the house and its surroundings?

Feng Shui in the garden doesn’t mean adopting an Asian decorative style. I, too, can apply these principles to a natural, modern, or classic garden and work with you to develop suitable options.

  • Is Feng Shui an Asian interior design style?

No. Feng Shui is not an interior design style and does not require Asian-style decor. It is a traditional Chinese philosophy that focuses on space, surroundings, orientation, and usage. Therefore, a Feng Shui consultation does not require stone lanterns, bamboo plants, red colors, or Asian furniture. What matters most is how a space is laid out and how it is used in everyday life.

A harmonious interior design can complement a variety of living styles:

    • modern
    • minimalist
    • classic
    • nature-inspired
    • unique
    • functional

Existing furniture and personal items can be taken into consideration. Feng Shui isn’t meant to make a space feel alien. The design should fit your daily life and the possibilities already available. That’s why my Feng Shui consultation isn’t about imposing a specific style. I’ll work with you to determine which spatial changes suit your space and your daily life.

  • Can the Feng Shui consultation take place online?

We do not currently offer Feng Shui consultations online or via video. Consultations take place on-site so that the room, building, property, and immediate surroundings can be assessed together.

A personal assessment allows for a direct understanding of spatial conditions. These include, for example:

    • the orientation of the building
    • the connection between the street, the entrance, and the living space
    • room sizes and traffic flow
    • lighting conditions and sightlines
    • The use of individual areas
    • The relationship between the house, garden, and surroundings

On-site consultations are particularly well-suited for apartments, commercial spaces, gardens, and new construction. I’d be happy to discuss whether this is the right fit for your needs during a personal consultation.

  • Is Feng Shui scientifically proven?

Feng Shui is a traditional Chinese practice and not a scientifically proven method for predicting health, success, or other life events. Concepts such as qi and the Five Elements are part of the traditional interpretive framework. A reputable Feng Shui consultation handles expectations with care. Specific results are not promised, and unsubstantiated effects are not presented as certainties.

Instead, the focus may be on questions such as:

    • How is a room used?
    • Which areas feel clear or restless?
    • How do people move through the space?
    • Where are there gaps in terms of privacy, wayfinding, or clear pathways?
    • What changes can be practically implemented?

Feng Shui can thus offer you a complementary perspective on the design of your living environment. I handle expectations with care and do not promise you specific results. Your personal perception of a space always remains important.

  • What are the limitations of a Feng Shui consultation?

A Feng Shui consultation is not a substitute for architecture, construction planning, structural engineering, interior design, ergonomics, medical treatment, or psychological counseling. It offers a complementary perspective on spaces, surroundings, orientation, and use. In the case of new construction, architects, construction planners, and other specialists remain responsible for their respective fields. If you have health concerns, you should consult an appropriate medical professional.

A Feng Shui consultation does not provide medical diagnoses and offers no guarantee regarding:

    • improved health
    • the healing of ailments
    • greater prosperity
    • professional success
    • a specific relationship
    • a specific future

Through my consultation, I can help you visualize spatial issues and highlight specific design options. You decide for yourself which recommendations to implement. If you’d like to take a more mindful approach to your home, garden, office, or a planned new construction project, you can discuss your needs directly with me.

  • Do I need to tidy up my rooms especially for the on-site appointment?

No, not at all. To get a true sense of your space, it’s best if I experience your rooms just as they’re actually used in everyday life. You don’t need to tidy up or rearrange anything. This isn’t about judging your home, but about working together to discover ways to bring more peace and energy into it.

  • What are the benefits of combining Feng Shui with energetic space cleansing (smudging)?

Feng Shui reorganizes the structures, orientations, and furniture in a room. An energetic space cleansing or smudging addresses areas where old energies or a place’s history are stuck. While I optimize the spatial layout, Lara Mandioni helps release these energetic residues. This combination is particularly suitable after moves, renovations, or significant life changes.

  • What's the best way to prepare for my first interview?

You don't need any specialized knowledge. It helps if you take a moment beforehand to think about what your main concern is: Is it about getting better sleep, improving your focus at work, or dealing with an upcoming change? Floor plans of your property, if available, are also helpful. We’ll discuss everything else step by step during our consultation.
